Ancestral cult in the burial rite of the Pomeranian culture (early iron age)

Cremation burial rite is considered on the material from the Pomeranian cul-ture and other entities of the Hallstatt and La Tene periods in Northern and Eastern Europe.In the context of various types and indications of burial rite the author pays special attentionto the burials destroyed in antiquity. Various explanations are suggested for the destruc-tions. The author assumes certain relationship of the discussed rite with slash-and-burnagriculture, when the ancestors' ashes could have been taken away and transferred by theirdescendants moving to another place. The discussed practice probably mirrors one of theaspects of the ancestral cult.
