Culture as a factor of modernization: a brief overview of foreign scientists’ theories

The paper reviews evolvement of interpretation of the culture’s role in theoretical works on modernization issues developed by foreign scholars. The authors trace the development of conceptualization of place and significance of the culture in the upgrading process from the linear modernization model to the contemporary multivariate models.
