Afanasij Nikitin's cultural identity

The problem of cultural and particularly religious identity of Ahanasij Nikitin, the author of The Voyage Beyond Three Seas, is being investigated. We analyze the use of foreign words and phrases in the text of the literary work which enables us to infer the idea of religious consciousness of the narrator in foreign environment.
