Cultural policy in the region as a tool for the formation of its modern image

The article discusses the role of cultural policy in the modern image strategies of Russian regions. The author emphasizes that in the search for competitive foundations of their territorial identity, many Russian regions are actively turning to the historical past and the system of regional cultural symbols. These cultural projects and scripts can withdraw depressed areas to a new level of development, make life in the regions more interesting and eventful, and attract investment and human resources. The formation of a competitive regional identity with the help of cultural resources management in the region is now a key factor in the development of a regional image policy.
