Cultural-leisure preferences of students in the period of social transformations

The article considers leisure preferences of Russian students on the base of monitoring interregional sociological study «Contradictions and paradoxes of socialization of student youth in conditions of transitivity of modern Russian society», which was conducted in 2016 by the Center for Social and Political Studies of the SFU. Today's Russian youth leisure is one of the main values in the cultural picture of the world, which determines the nature, direction and meaning of its life activity. Structural and functional shifts occurring in the leisure sphere of a transforming Russian society indicate a serious restructuring of the system of values orientations of students. A significant part of students see at leisure the possibility of implementing a model of behavior based on an individual free choice. Processes of compensation, socialization, self-realization, etc. are carried out here. Most young people prefer a hedonistic way of life, where hard study has an important but not the main meaning for the individual. The value of individual practices according to the concept of experience society is becoming increasingly important in the leisure sphere of modern Russian students.
