The article analyses the issues related to the oppression of the Armenian population in the Ottoman Empire through the analysis of both special literature and historical documents. The problem of oppression is considered in the context of cultural-religious embargo and forced Islamisation of the Ottoman population. The article analyses documents and studies by other authors on the issue. The material basis of the work was formed by the studies of A.M. Abidulin, Y.G. Barsegov, P.I. Belyaev, A.R. Kilasov and others. The conducted research allowed us to draw the following conclusions. The cultural and religious embargo within the framework of the Pan-Islamist doctrine in the Ottoman Empire played a crucial role in the oppression of the Armenian population. One of the ways of resolving the Armenian population of the country was Islamisation, which took place both violently and voluntarily, when the Armenian population saved their lives by converting to Islam. Armenians were forbidden to perform religious rites according to the Christian faith, and representatives of the Armenian Apostolic Church were also persecuted.
