Cultural space of a Volga town during the First World War

The paper analyzes potentialities of the Volga region urban population in realization of "cultural leisure" and culture consumption during the First World War. The work of local theatres, libraries, education societies, cinema, museums, and press formed the cultural space of the Volga towns. Its specificity is revealed on the materials of principal cities and uyezd towns of Samara, Simbirsk, Penza and Saratov provinces.
