Cultural capital of the population in the region

The article presents the theoretical foundations of the concept of "cultural capital". It deals with the questions of the involvement of cultural capital in the regional economy. The author raises the issues of the labour market imbalances, unemployment among highly qualified specialists and low share of consumer cultural and educational costs, which were generated by the global financial crisis. The results of the analysis allowed the author to propose some measures to improve the convertibility of cultural capital in the economic life of the Vologda Oblast.
