The article examines one of the global problems of modern Russia: the cultural crisis of society. The origins of this crisis can be traced back to globalization, which has led to the emergence of mass culture, consumerism, and the erosion of Russia’s spiritual and moral values. This has resulted in a breakdown of the cultural and anthropological identity of the Russian population. As a result of the unification of consumption patterns and structures, negative trends are on the rise, including the cult of external individual success, the cult of consumption, and the cult of selfishness. These trends have led to social atomization, which has had a detrimental impact on Russian society. The worship of Western values is a process of Westernization, in which the leveling of true national culture and genuine folk values contributes to the destruction of the nation’s wealth, primarily its spiritual wealth. A visible feature of the cultural crisis in modern Russia is the deconstruction of the main cultural institutions of national identity: education, family, and art. These systems require support from the state, which should be based on the values of humanization, humanitarization, and moral foundations. In order to preserve the identity of the country’s citizens, the state must regulate all processes related to globalization. The media should also refrain from simplification in order to become a creative force that benefits the culture of society. The return to a truly spiritual culture is possible only through the acceptance of Russian civilizational identity.
