Culturological image of the city in the Russian and foreign criticism

The article touches upon the image of the city as a cultural science object and a civilization model. The author shows the role of the cities in the moulding of a society and the transformation in people’s attitude to megalopolises. A special attention is paid to the works of researchers, who studied the city in the culturological context.
