The article summarizes and systematizes the aspects characterizing the Kurdish issue in Russian-Turkish relations in the context of significant historical, cultural, and political dynamics. Three relatively isolated historical intervals are considered: 19th - early 20th centuries; the period of Soviet-Turkish relations, which ended in the early 1990s with the collapse of the USSR; modern agenda of Russian-Turkish relations. The study used statistical, factorial and structural method of research. Today, Kurdistan is a point of contact between the geopolitical centers of world powers (in the distant past - the Roman, Persian empires, the Ottoman Empire, the Arab caliphate). The foreign policy of modern Russia in the countries of the Middle East is largely determined by the desire to translate the solution of military-political conflicts on a constructive basis. The basic principle underlying the foreign policy of Russia in the Middle East region is to seek a compromise based on dialogue to resolve the contradictions arising in the world. Russia’s actions are aimed at assisting and helping the legitimate authorities of the Syrian Arab Republic. The thesis was justified that the Russian side, realizing its own geopolitical interests in the Middle East region, considered and considers the Kurdish population and the Kurdish issue not as a deterrent factor, but as a factor of balance, parity of interests of all stakeholders.
