The Kurdish issue is one of the most acute and pressing problems in the Middle East due to the central geostrategic position of Kurdistan in the Middle Eastern political arena. The specificity of the Kurdish issue is that the Kurds are the largest nation in the world that does not have its own sovereign state. The territory where the Kurds live is called Kurdistan; its borders are conditional. Any manifestation of separatism in this territory is controlled by four states of the Middle East (Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran). The current interest of the world community in the political situation in this region makes the Kurdish issue a particular importance. The article examines the situation of the Kurdish ethnic minority in Syria and reflects the problems associated with the fragmentation of Kurdish political forces in Syria. The author gives a brief description of the warring parties and their positions, considers the individual plans of the conflicting parties to resolve the Kurdish issue and outlines the prospects for the development of the Kurdish problem in Syria.
