Treatment of esophagogasric variceal bleedings due to cirrhotic portal hypertension: sequential effective measures

The results of treatment of 426 patients with esophagogastric variceal bleedings were analyzed. In 157 patients endoscopic variceal ligation and in 152 patients transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunting (TIPS procedure) were performed. In 53 cases both esophageal ligation and TIPS procedure were sequentially used. In this comparative study 103 patients were divided into two groups of clinical investigation. Ist group includes 50 patients who have undergo endoligation in complex of hemostatic measures. IInd clinical group includes 53 patients who have undergo both endoscopic variceal ligation and TIPS procedure.
