Light industry in national areas of Volga region in the prewar period. 1938-1941

The article is devoted to the development of light industry in the national areas in Volga region during 1938-1941. The authors characterize the condition of the regional light industry in the prewar period, evaluate the dynamics in total quantity of enterprises, labor force, and production. They pay attention to the processes of evacuation of the enterprises from the western regions of the USSR and their sitting in Volga region. The research is based upon the archival materials and statistical data.
