Currently, the forensic study of written speech allows you to determine the performer of the letter and assess his personal characteristics. For this, often, in the practice of litigation, they resort to the services of experts. When conducting an examination for the study of a handwritten text, an expert should be faced with the primary question - is the author the performer of the text submitted for the study one person. And only after that it is possible to draw conclusions about the author of the text and its performer. If a text in a foreign language falls under the examination, the task becomes more complicated. Linguistic expertise is necessary to establish the meaning of the text, first of all, whether the text contains such content, the distribution of which is prohibited or restricted by law, i.e. content, the distribution of which violates the rights of a person, society or state. In addition, linguistic expertise makes it possible to obtain information about the real meaning of various dialogues, which can be recorded in the course of operational-search activities, etc. For example, organized drug trafficking groups may use special terminology when communicating with each other, replacing the word “drug” with “product”, “delivery” or “receipt” with the word “task”, and other words. In the course of a linguistic examination, these objects can be deciphered. In this article, the author will try to analyze the features of linguistic expertise in forensic activities as part of the work of a translator.
