The article deals with the study of lexical units that function in the scholarly texts on the history of arts. The peculiarities of the texts of different registers are primarily revealed at the lexical level. The lexical units of the scholarly texts on the history of arts can be classified into three strata. The specificity lies within the terminology of this kind of texts and specific ultimate syntagmatic units that prevail over the academic ones.
