Forestry of Italy

The concept of forest used in Italy is considered. The state of forests was studied in the context of Italian regions in terms of total area, forest cover, timber reserves, species composition and availability of forests for timber harvesting. The distribution of forest area in Italy by region and altitude class was studied. The types of protected forest areas in Italy and the distribution of their area by region are analyzed. The structure of owners of forest plots is considered. Data on forestry planning and forestry practices in Italy are presented. The causes and extent of damage to Italian forests have been studied. The dynamics of annual volumes of wood removal in Italy are analyzed. The role of Italy in the world export and import of forest products is determined.
