This article focuses on the models of social convention recently constructed by liberal philosophers. John Gray’s modus vivendi liberalism and David Gauthier’s explication of Hobbesian public reason are interpreted as possible models of social convention and coordination. The author states that social convention becomes very significant for modern pluralistic society with the rise of subjective factors and the need to save integration. Social convention is seen as an indispensable condition and result of social integration and interactions.
