The article examines the views of the Russian liberals of the early XX century on the problem of typology of constitutional states. The author shows that the main typology criterion considered by the liberals was the nature of political power organization. Such structure implied dualistic and parliamentary systems. The difference between these determinants was seen in the appointment of the government and control exercised over it. The form of the constitutional states could be both monarchical and republican. The form of the administrative-territorial structure of the constitutional states, from the standpoint of the liberals, assumed different degrees of decentralization (autonomy, regional autonomy, federation).
