The personality of bishop Gurias (Burtasovsky) and the ideal of the orthodox priest-missionary in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries

The article examines the personal qualities of Bishop Gurius (Burtasovsky) and his missionary service in the second half of the 19th-early 20th centuries in the context of their relationship with the ideal of an Orthodox missionary priest. A preliminary definition of this ideal is proposed and the disclosure of its components is carried out, confirmed by examples taken from the archives and official church periodicals of the corresponding era. In the end, it is concluded that the missionary service of Bishop Guriyus (Burtasovsky) corresponds to the general model of missionary service, characteristic of the specified period of time.
