The article deals with the interaction of a person and a state in the philosophy of I.A. Ilyin. The author considers the philosopher’s idea about the person and state's spiritual unity based on the religious and moral autonomy of the person. The relationship of the person and the state is discussed in both genetic aspect and in terms of their joint force resistance to evil. This idea of the philosopher is of particular relevance at the present time considering the necessity of concerted action against international terrorism taken by a number of countries.
