The Logical Square of Metamodernism – Relationships of Basic Categorical Proportions

The application of the classical method of the logical square, triangle and circle symbolism to the analysis of the modern concept of Descartes’ quadrants links the main logical models into one metatheoretical model, which fully fits into the concept of metamodernity and interdisciplinary approach. The metatheoretical model, through the simultaneous integration of binary oppositions, visualizes a single metaparadigm interactive transtemporal space. The basic characteristic of the society of the state of metamodernism is the binary, oppositional components, contributing to the oscillation from one extreme to the other. The generality, unity of the principles of difference and identity can be defined as a characteristic of the conceptual apparatus of metamodernity. The mechanism of its functioning is the multidimensional integration of all possible oppositions. The presence of binary oppositions becomes a necessary condition for the further continuous development of the entire modern, postmodern, and metamodern social system and the transition to a subsequent stage of evolution. For the cultural industry, the presence of binary oppositional components freely interacting with each other is an important prerequisite for a heuristic breakthrough (creation of new works) and the realization of the protective function of culture, protecting its valuesemantic core from a negative destructive external impact.
