This article studies the philosophical heritage of St. Petersburg Teological Academy and offers an analysis of the philosophical theories of philosophers from the Academy or connected to it. Te ontological component of the gnosiological dimension of philosophy common to Russian philosophy as a whole, and to academic philosophy in particular, is studied. In light of this, the author offers an interpretation of the ideas of philosophers who influenced the formation of the philosophical context of the second half of the 19th century, beginning, in some sense, «from Karpov» as a still classical thinker. Te author concludes that Russian philosophy was formed as a rationalization of the interpretation of two sources - early Christian literature and the reception of Plato through Leibniz and Wolff. Mikhail Karinsky, a Professor at St. Petersburg Teological Academy, made an atempt at anticipating the idea of new logic through a critical reconsideration of the classical model of Aristotle and the skeptic rationalism of Kant. In this article, an atempt is made to find the place of academic philosophy in the overall environment of Russian philosophical thought of the second half of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century.
