Local civic consciousness as a factor of the city development

The article considers civic consciousness as a complex social phenomenon. The special attention is paid to its local manifestations. The concept of local civic consciousness is introduced, this term is an attempt of transformation of the more general concept of civic consciousness in the context of urban development. The local civic identity is considered as a major element of the social and cultural potential of a city.
