Local economic zones (LEZ): prerequisites for the origin and prospects of development

The growing role of the modern state as a response to global challenges is considered by transformist scientists as a phenomenon combining the trends of globalization and localization. Under the influence of the localization process, the country’s economic policy is aimed at defending its own interests and searching for new markets. The analysis of the import structure of 133 countries of the world, in which more than 97% of the world’s population lives, for 2000-2018 revealed potential leaders and their zones of influence, they turned out to be the BRICS countries, as well as the USA and the EU, led by Germany. In the territories of influence of these leaders, in the long term, local economic zones (LEZ) should be formed, within which the base regional currency will dominate. The author’s definition of LEZ is given and criteria for their formation are proposed.
