Local food market in a region: functioning effectiveness and development regulation

The article deals with some approaches to the research of market effectiveness. The author considers differences of Harvard and Chicago schools of economics in regard to the relationship of elements in the paradigm "structure - behaviour - result." The paper discusses the lack of the methodology for effectiveness assessment of various commodity markets. The author suggests a methodological approach to the evaluation of the performance of the local food market in a region. The necessity of regulating of the regional food market development in order to improve its effectiveness is justified.
