Small business in the spatial development of the region

In the article various points of view on the definition of the concept “space”, “spatial economy” have been analyzed. The conclusion has been drawn that in spite of the use in terminology such concepts as “space”, “spatial”, the field of research is within the traditional territorial approach to regional economy. The role of clusters in the spatial development has been considered. The increasing shortage of studies has been noted in substantiation the theoretical, methodological and applied aspects of the placement of small businesses in the context of the spatial distribution of economic resources. The attempt of rethinking the role of socioeconomic potential of small business has been made in the context of space modernization through the innovative development of the region.
