Based on the recollections of U.-Zh. Sh. Dondukov, a professor at Buryat State University (BSU), Doctor of Philological Sciences, and participant in the Great Patriotic War, the article uncovers the names and images of little-known heroes of the Great Patriotic War from Buryatia. The memoir heritage of U.-Zh. Sh. Dondukov is revealed in chronological order. Episodes from his combat path, relationships with fellow country-men-comrades, and the author's personal experiences regarding certain events are presented. The author concludes that memoirs of the Great Patriotic War, as subjective personal narratives, represent a rich source of information about little-known heroes of the war. Sometimes, they can serve as the only testimony to the feats of these people, whose memory is preserved thanks to the recollections of those who were direct participants in these events.
