The article analyzes a little-known source about the fate of a number of representatives of the first wave of emigration from Soviet Russia. The peculiarity of this source is that it belongs to the Soviet foreign intelligence service, dated July 1944 and signed personally by the head of the 1st Department of the NKGB of the USSR P.M. Fitin. The documents answer the question of why the fate of emigrants came to the attention of Soviet intelligence during the Second World War, when the actions of the Red Army were transferred to the territories of European states. Obviously, it is advisable to consider this source taking into account the complex military-political situation of wartime, when any information from Soviet intelligence in the course of "monitoring" the actions of emigrants could have important defensive significance. The research methods and, above all, the content analysis used by the author of 39 sources analyzed in the article, namely top-secret biochronical "References", reproduce information about the fates of prominent figures of Russian emigration. Results. The analyzed source of the history of the period of the Second World War allows us to recreate the essence of people's motivation, to supplement historical knowledge from the point of view of imagology about the life paths and destinies of people of different generations. Conclusions. The sources studied in the article, describing the activities of the Soviet foreign intelligence agencies and its head Pavel Mikhailovich Fitin, to a certain extent replenish the humanitarian knowledge of the history of the twentieth century.
