The article discusses the problems and prospects of development of small and medium-sized businesses in Moscow in the context of the digital economy. The opportunities for a digital breakthrough of SMEs in the capital are created by a developed innovative infrastructure, the ability to perform the functions of “market understudies” of TNCs, and the use of digital technologies in the manufacturing sector. The problems of SME development are associated with limited and inaccessible investment resources, the absence of a clearly formalized vector of digital development of small business, and the lack of digital competencies.
