This article examines the phenomenon of marketplaces in the domestic market, the history of the formation of marketplaces in Russia, starting with the first platforms such as Ozon, and ending with the current state of the market. The study focuses on the development of online commerce and marketplaces under the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the departure of foreign companies, as well as adaptation to new logistical realities. The factors contributing to the growth of the universal marketplace segment are analyzed, such as a wide range of products, ease of use, competitive prices and opportunities for sellers. The market shares of leading players, including Wildberries and Ozon, are assessed, as well as issues of government regulation of marketplaces, including consumer protection and antitrust regulation. The paper identifies the main problematic issues that displease sellers, such as paid registration, lack of qualified support, and unilateral modification of the offer.
