The purpose of this work is to study the approaches of the founders of Marxism and their followers from the Russian Social Democracy of the late XIX-early XX century to understanding the fundamental foundations of the future state, identifying the most significant of them, formed in the social-democratic camp of Germany and Russia on the state of the future, the study of the diversity of approaches to this problem of the Russian followers of Karl Marx and F. Engels, who at times held opposite positions. The formation of the approaches of the Russian followers of Marxism to the problems of the future society depended not only on their ideological positions, but also on the development trends of the state and society, on its revolutionary traditions, etc. Subsequently, their views influenced the theory of Marxism and the practice of building a socialist state in Russia.
