This article is devoted to the study of typewritten text. In this paper, the concept of research on typewritten text, its features, tasks, possibilities and methods will be theoretically investigated on the basis of a complex of theoretical research of scientific and methodological literature, for a full understanding of the definition and features of the research of typewritten text.The question of the concept, objects and tasks, methods and research of typewritten text is actual at present, as inaccuracy of this type of examination has a negative impact on expert practice and the quality of expert opinions. Given the existence of economic development in the modern world, in most cases, documents are used in the community not only for storing and transmitting information, but also as tools for committing crimes. In addition, documents are used in countering law enforcement agencies, courts, etc. Through documents, false information is confirmed. Thus, the emergence of new types of documents requires the need for new approaches, techniques and tools for their study. In this regard, the relevance of the problems of updating and systematization of certain knowledge used in the study of documents is determined.
