The masked shrike Lanius nubicus Lichtenstein, 1823 is the new species for Russia's fauna. Female is found in the south-west part of the Taman peninsula on the coast of the Bugaz estuary. The bird is in the collection of the Darwin state museum № OF 12276. The nearest nesting populations are on the south of the Balkan peninsula and in Turkey. It is the first find of Masked Shrike on Russia's territory.
