The material world of migrants in the context of transnational migration in Russia

The article is devoted to investigation of some characteristics of the material world of labor migrants from Central Asia in Russia. The starting point is that the modern migration is a complex transnational phenomenon including the movement between countries not only not only of people, but also of various elements of material culture. The transnational movement of things between Russia and the countries of Central Asia is classified in the direction to home and from home, as well as by the social relations that accompany this movement and the meaning of the so-called things. The transnational movement of things vividly illustrates that the migration movement is not strictly mechanical and rationally economic. It has a serious impact on the quality of life of the migrant’s family at home, leads to the intensification of the formation of diasporality.
