The economic system of the modern stage of development is being transformed by digital technology. The galloping rate of increase in the share of e-commerce, the share of high-tech and knowledge-intensive industries in the GDP of a country, the share of innovative goods in the structure of trade reflects the degree of digital development, technological and economic development of countries. Data management, analytic management and visualization management of all processes are becoming the main vectors for the construction of the digital module of economic development, including the sphere of commodity circulation. Iot, Cloud computing, AI, AR/VR, 3D technologies, Big Data, Block chain have a significant impact on the consumer’s daily life, as well as on social and economic macro-processes worldwide. Digital technology can increase productivity, reduce costs, reduce resource intensity and ensure efficiency. However, there are also risks and shortcomings that need to be highlighted. The Digital Elasticity Matrix, as a tool for analysing the responsiveness of digital technologies to external influences, is becoming a tool for measuring the development of the digital economy. The digital elasticity matrix includes, on the one hand, the determinants of digital technologies and, on the other hand, environmental factors. Models, indicators and tools have been developed by scientists to measure the development of the digital economy. The authors’ matrix of digital elasticity develops research in this field.
