Online media content in the information-communication system of the region

The author emphasizes that the rapid development of Internet and computer information technologies has resulted in profound structural and content transformation of mass media in information-communication system of the region. Besides, the development of web technologies turns online media into a peculiar information-communication channel which provides a consumer with a wide variety of media content, freedom of its choice and relevant communications. However, despite high rates of practical development of online media the following primary issues still remain disputable: a description of the essence of the online media concept, a classification of online media types in the region. While conducting the research the author has revealed that dominant positions according to the number of clicks in the majority of big cities are held by Internet sites of press and news agencies.
