The article analyzes and defines the role of printed and electronic periodicals in the preservation and formation of cultural and national heritage. Central and regional media are considered as repeaters and effective tools for the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage. The state media strategy in the field of preservation of historical monuments and cultural heritage has been determined. The necessary measures of the state and the media to attract public attention to the problem of preserving, forming, popularizing, state protection of the cultural and national heritage of Russia, and increasing national culture are outlined.
