Medical sterilization of sex offenders: international experience

in the article, further to the legal issues pertinent to medical sterilization, the author analyzes the legislation that provides for the possibility of sterilizing a legally capable individual that has committed sexual offences. In this regard the author contemplates a relevant worthwhile experience of a range of countries in Asia (i.e. Republic of Korea, Republic of Indonesia, Republic of Turkey), North America (the United States of America) and Europe (Republic of Poland, Czech Republic). The author arrives at a conclusion that despite the disputability of the effectiveness of the procedures examined in the article, different kinds of medical sterilization of sex offenders are not only widely accepted worldwide, but the number of counties practicing these routines keeps on growing.
