The article investigates the main parameters of the popular science magazine as a part of the open public media communicative space. Such characteristics of the popular scientific magazine of the subject matter “Travel”, as the audience’s nature, the publication subject, the purpose and the narrative technique of the magazine are considered. It has been proved that a popular science magazine is a multimodal text, which combines verbal and non-verbal ways of encoding information for the purpose of its visualization. The content of the popular science magazine has been analyzed. The fact that modern linguistics strengthens its attention on the problems of linguistic manipulation and communicants’ interaction, on the study of language in close connection with the human practical activities, makes this article particularly vital.
