Mechanism of the regional economy industrial structure modernization in the context of sustainable development

Introduction. The article presents the concept of managing sectoral structural changes in the regional economy in sustainable development context. Management of structural shifts and modernization of sectoral structure are considered as a tool to increase sustainability of regional economy development. Aims. To describe the mechanism for upgrading the regional economy sectoral structure, based on an assessment of the current structural changes and forecasting the optimal sectoral structure. Methods. System-structural analysis, comparative analysis of time series, econometric and forecast estimates, statistical assessment methods. Results. The concept for a mechanism of regional economy sectoral structure modernization has been proposed, based on forecasted indicators within the National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030, ensuring the achievement of sustainable development parameters. Conclusion. The mechanism of regional economy sectorial structure modernization in the context of sustainable development contains blocks performing the following functions: assessment of the current structural changes and trends in the industries forming GRP; forecasting the optimal industry structure; selection and approbation of priority tools for the implementation of promising structural changes initially at the district level with its further spread for the region.
