The mechanisms of state support for the agricultural sector in the context of globalization are considered. It is established that the globalization of the economy encourages the convergence of the directions and mechanisms of regulation of the domestic agricultural sector with the generally accepted ones. At the same time, the conditions for supporting agriculture as a competitive branch of the economy are being unified and the vector of its support is changing, which is aimed at liberalizing international trade and ensuring sustainable development of agriculture and rural areas. At the same time, the content of state support for the agricultural sector is manifested through a set of regulatory instruments that provide acceptable business conditions for business entities. At the same time, trade liberalization as a manifestation of globalization causes restrictions on the use of support tools in the areas of, first of all, customs, tariff and price regulation, as well as tax, credit, and budget. It is proved that the state’s capabilities in promoting agriculture are growing in the field of environmental, institutional, socio-economic regulation, the tools of which are becoming the main tool for stimulating agricultural production and protecting it from external competition. It was found out that the need to regulate agriculture is due to a number of factors, namely the specifics of agricultural production, the need to preserve the country’s food and economic security, the growing polarization of income between economic sectors, the preservation of ecological balance and social welfare.
