Mechanisms for supporting the political participation of schoolchildren in the light of the problem of low level of political participation of young people

The relevance of the study is due to the need to consider the causes and factors of low political participation of young people in the political life of the country in relation to older generations and to develop mechanisms for involving young people in political life. The aim of the study is theoretical substantiation of the effectiveness of the mechanisms of schoolchildren’ political participation. The methodological basis of the research is the works of classics of political thought, as well as monographs and articles by modern foreign and domestic researchers. The empirical basis consists of quantitative and qualitative sociological studies of domestic and foreign scientists, including international coverage. The main results of the study are the following: 1) the main reasons and factors that cause less political activity of young people in relation to older generations are analyzed; 2) the contradiction between the desire of young people for conventional and institutionalized participation in politics and the inaccessibility of organizational channels that can provide young people with full access to political life is revealed; 3) it is suggested that the support of school civic activism can become an important direction in the formation of a political culture of participation among young citizens; 4) the main imperatives of the policy of political participation of young people are proposed.
