Measures of trust and security in the Caspian region

The author analyses the main problems related to the settlement of the legal status of the Caspian Sea, and the geopolitical interests of regional and extra-regional players (the U.S., NATO, the EU, Turkey, Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan). Special attention is paid to security issues in the Caspian region. The key projects and initiatives on confidence and security in the Caspian region, issues of military, energy and environmental security in the process of creating a new system of security in the region are highlighted, the increasing role of the region in world politics not only because of hydrocarbon reserves, but also located in that, from the point of view of the strategic interests of world powers is noted.
