Messianic texts of the Old Testament in the exegesis of the church fathers

This article describes the principles according to which in the patristic literature certain texts of the Holy Scriptures of the Old Testament were regarded as Messianic. Verification of the adequacy of patristic exegesis of the Old Testament methods is proposed through comparison with the methods of interpretation of the Old Testament by the authors of the New Testament books. We consider these special cases of the New Testament and patristic interpretation of the Old Testament messianism as dual prophecy fulfillment and personification of the prophecies about the people of Israel. There are examples of application methods of typology, contemplation and allegory in the patristic interpretations of the Messianic texts of the Old Testament.
