Local self-government: some results of the reforms according to expert assessments

In the article, the author discusses the genesis of the evolution of local self-government in Russia, highlights the main stages of reforming, problems and prospects of the current state of the municipalities. The author provides a critical analysis of the views on the establishment and development of local self-government in Russia, considers the pros and cons of legislation in this area, peculiarities of local budgets and challenges of implementing powers to the local authorities.
