The role of a senior citizen in demographic processes

In the paper the author analyzes the state of senior citizens in the modern Russian society; the peculiarities of the national and regional policy concerning this category of the population on the example of the Murmansk region have been considered. Besides, the demographic situation both in the state and in the region has been described.
