The article deals with the manipulative function of metaphor in the pre-election discourse. Often politicians in the course of an election campaign, consciously or unconsciously, turn to linguistic means to influence the election. Metaphor has informational, cognitive, expressive potential and is the most important tool for influencing the audience.
