Metaphoricity of the Russian image in American mass media and the American image in Russian mass media of the past and present

The article deals with the metaphor in political discourse as a language phenomenon and communicative weapon, its historical aspect and role in the world conceptualization by an individual. Stereotypized images formed in public consciousness of Americans and Russians are getting objects of metaphorization that allows making up an idea of national and cultural specifics of Russia and the USA. Metaphorical images of Russia and the USA and their dynamics from 1917 to the present time are compared in the article. It allows making a conclusion concerning general tendencies of vision the world in another culture in different moments of history.
