The method of distraction in treatment of post-burning deformities and contractures

New methods of treatment for severe post-burning deformities and contractures are described using the compression-distraction devices of G.A. Ilizarov, V.S. Aleinikov and also those modified by the authors. New methods have been worked out, which have no analogs all over the world and are intended for digital dorsal dislocation repositioning; Weinstein contracture elimination; severe hand deformity, caused by contracture of the hand own muscles due to their fibrosis as a result of edema; and for prevention of the secondary retraction of free skin graft. Besides, a new technique for elimination of severe post-burning articular contractures is proposed, which allows functional recovery without dermatoplasty operations. An extra-osseous device and two-stage technique of treatment are specially proposed for the shoulder contraction elimination, and this allows to avoid transectioning tendons and muscles, and to use strained skin scars as plasty material.
